An important part of any future career in the modelling business is to have a professional looking portfolio. This is you, it's what an agent or employer will look at first, a good first impression can mean getting that all important break!
Choosing the right model / portfolio photographer can be a difficult task, and having a professional photographer develop your portfolio can be very expensive, so choose wisely.
We have listed a few tips below as a "rough guide" as what's to look for in a good photographer / studio.

  • Visit your photographer at his or her studio and view samples of their work rather than a few one off stunning pictures. This will give you a good idea as to the quality and content of the your proposed shoot.
  • Tell your photographer the type and style of photographs you expect to be taken. Most will often suggest what they think is best but always make sure that you and your photographer know what you would like before the you go ahead. Some may also employ make up artists

  • If you are happy with the photographer and want to book then make sure you have agreed the price before your shoot and make sure you know exactly what you will get and also ask the price for any extra pictures etc.

  • Ensure your photographer is a full time professional and is a qualified member of a recognised photographic association. If he or she is, they will have indemnity insurance and will work to a high standard that has been previously examined.
